I am a proud 7th generation Texan. My father grew up near White Rock Lake in Dallas and my mother grew up on a dairy farm in southern Indiana. They met at what was then Abilene Christian College but moved back to Dallas to raise my brothers and I. I am the third of three brothers, who all attended Duncanville High School and after my graduation I headed out west to Texas Tech. I tell everyone that I was born in Dallas but I grew up in Lubbock, because out in West Texas is where I honed my values of hard work and integrity and I am proud to utilize those for my clients.
I am a graduate of the Texas Tech University School of Law and a trial attorney with decades of experience handling some of the most serious and complex criminal cases in Texas. Throughout my career, I have built a reputation as a skilled courtroom advocate, trying cases before juries and representing clients in high-stakes matters where experience, preparation, and strategic judgment are critical.
Before entering private practice, I served as the Deputy Attorney General for Criminal Justice for the State of Texas, where I oversaw law enforcement and criminal prosecution divisions responsible for investigating and prosecuting major crimes across the state. Prior to that role, I served as an Assistant District Attorney in Williamson, Lubbock, and Travis Counties, gaining extensive courtroom experience and earning recognition as the Lubbock County District Attorney's Prosecutor of the Year in 2010.
Over the course of my career, I have handled cases involving homicide, human trafficking, sexual assault, organized crime, public corruption, election offenses, and complex financial crimes. While serving in the Travis County District Attorney's Office, I was selected to create the Criminal Enterprise and Trafficking Unit, where I led investigations and prosecutions involving sophisticated criminal organizations and trafficking networks.
Today, I utilize my experience on both sides of the courtroom to provide an aggressive and strategic defense for my clients. My background gives me unique insight into how cases are built, investigated, and tried, allowing me to identify weaknesses in the government's evidence and develop effective defense strategies for my clients.
Whether negotiating with prosecutors, arguing critical motions, or taking a case to trial, I am committed to protecting my clients' rights and achieving the best possible outcome. I understand that a criminal accusation can be life-changing, and I bring the same dedication, preparation, and tenacity to every case that I have demonstrated throughout my career in the courtroom.
